Presbyterian Women
Presbyterian Women (PW) is open to all the women of our church. PW gatherings, special events, retreats, Bible studies, and circle meetings provide opportunities for women to grow in their faith, support the mission of the church worldwide, work for justice and peace, and build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the PC(USA) and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom. Greetings and welcome from the Moderator 2010-2011
Sally Abbotts designed the national Presbyterian Women logo in 1988 with symbols to embody the purpose of PW:
- The trio of women are rooted in faith-the Bible similar to the one on the PC (USA) Seal. The central figure stands in praise and forms a cross. Her uplifted arms reach out to embrace a just peace.
- The figure on the right holds a book to guide her in study, prayer and meditation.
- The left figure reaches out to care for others.
- The circle represents the church worldwide where women offer their gifts and talents.
- The women have no distinct features - to represent all women.
Presbyterian Women Thank and Birthday Offerings
The Thank Offering and Birthday Offering provide much-needed financial assistance to programs not included in ongoing General Assembly mission support. Each year, domestic and international projects are prayerfully selected by the Creative Ministries Offering Committee to help meet a crucial need. The Thank and Birthday Offering gifts help chosen recipients find real solutions for projects related to hospitals, community health programming, education, economic development, and needs of women and children.
